Nighttime UAS operations add complexity that requires specific training and equipment. The FAA maintains that an “applicant must assure all required persons participating in the small, unmanned aircraft operation know how to recognize and overcome visual illusions caused by darkness and understand physiological conditions which may degrade night vision.”
In the UAS Nighttime Operations Training Course from DSLRPros, students will identify night visual illusions and the physiological degradation occurring in darkness, then deploy the strategies needed to counter these challenges. The students will also use state-of-the-art equipment to conduct nighttime UAS operations based on real-world public safety mission sets.
Students will learn/perform the following tasks in the context of nighttime operations:
Understand FAA Flight Requirements
Examine Equipment Requirements
Log 2 Hours Of Flight Time
Use Infrared and Thermal Equipped UAVs
